GTEC 08 Feedback

Spring Show Feedback

GTEC 09 will take place from November 1^st – 3^rd at the Harrogate convention centre and will based on the hugely successful format of GTEC 08 with some further improvements.

The show in 2008 had three very discrete sections:

HIGH PROFILE GUEST SPEAKERS - the Sunday afternoon was an opportunity for high-profile guest speakers to provide specialist education and motivation for PGA Professionals to assist them in running more effective businesses
THE BEST TRADE SHOW IN EUROPE - the Monday and Tuesday had a traditional trade show where the 50+ suppliers supporting the show put on a great display of the product and made themselves available to PGA Professionals to answer questions, assist in product selection and where agreed, to take orders. As the requirement to rationalize and streamline ranges has increased in the face of shortened product life-cycles and an explosion of high-quality choice there is no better place to make your decisions
EDUCATIONAL SEMINARS - Parallel to the Trade Show there were educational seminars for small groups to aid interaction. These seminars all offered practical and simple guidelines on how businesses could be improved through better marketing, better merchandising, better buying, better management and improved cash management

Following feedback and input from our Foremost and Alliance members we will be adding the following sections to the show:

TEACHING – experts will be providing seminars to help you run a more effective teaching business along with insights into the latest teaching methods,
TENURE AT YOUR GOLF CLUB – specially designed seminars will be run for Golf Professionals to hear ways that they can improve the services they offer their golf club, making them more valuable to the whole golf community,
BUYING AND STOCK MANAGEMENT – seminars dealing with greatest challenge the PGA Professional with a Retail operation faces today. Attendees will walk away with practical, easy to implement buying plans that will reduce stock, increase stock turn, increase returns and improve cash flows,
FITTING – following on from the success of these seminars at the Spring Shows we will be providing a FOREMOST GOLF training and certification programme that will increase your confidence in the fitting process, help you increase your sales and to improve your margins.

As was the case in 2008, PGA CPD points will be earned through attendance of approved seminars. 25 CPD points will be awarded for attending all day Sunday, and 5 additional CPD points will be awarded for each 1 hour seminar attended on Monday and Tuesday.

Those that attended will be pleased to know that we will be running our Monday night social and networking event. Those that didn’t attend last year missed a great evening. It culminated with a competition based on ‘Who wants to be a millionaire’ involving Putts from greater and greater distances. Amazing how tough a 6 footer becomes when the ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire’ music stops and silence descends on the room. Who will take away the big prize this year?
